• CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. “The basis for long-term business relationships is customer satisfaction,” Jeff explains. “We see to it that the customer is happy with the product and with us.”

• CONVENIENCE. All the customer need do is to make a selection and Family Flooring takes care of the rest. The store is conveniently located on Battlefield Boulevard, just off the Great Bridge Bypass, near the hub of Kempsville Road and Great Bridge Boulevard.

• VALUE. Tony points out that a home is a family’s largest investment.
Within the house, the floor is key to appearance and to maintaining
the value of the home. “Quality pays,” Tony says. “Cheap only turns out to be expensive [in the long run]. You’ve invested in your home and it is a mistake to not invest in quality for your flooring.” Floors make an impression. And, whether they say so or not, it is true that people notice the floors of houses they visit.

“The laminates, floating wooden floors, are becoming more and more popular,” Tony says. The pad underneath absorbs sound and acts as a moisture barrier. Do-it-yourselfers often prefer this flooring because of the relative ease of installation.

Women are especially pleased to learn this generation of vinyl products far surpasses those of earlier years. “These new vinyls don’t show dirt and are easy to clean,” Jeff asserts with the confidence of one who knows his flooring. Some people remember the shiny floors of the past where no drop of spilled soup could go undetected. Now, the surface is designed so the spots don’t show and the material designed to be cleaned with ease.

These two affable gentlemen were both working for a flooring company when they realized they had a sense of commitment many of their co-workers did not have. It was natural for them to team up and start their own business to bring service and satisfaction to their customers. When asked how they chose Family Flooring as the name of their business, which opened the first of April, Jeff and Tony look at each other and begin to speak at the same time. “The answer,” Jeff says, “is because we each have sons and we fully intend that this business will be here and thriving when they are old enough to take over and allow us to enjoy retirement.” That long-term goal echoes their commitment to service and guaranteed customer satisfaction.

Family Flooring is not limited to quality products for homes. “As a manager for a large flooring firm, I developed an extensive commercial base, and I intend to do the same with this, our own, company,” Jeff says.

“The basis for long-term business relationships is customer satisfaction,” Jeff explains. “We see to it that the customer is happy with the product and with us.”To gain the knowledge Jeff and Tony bring to the business, they made a determined effort to study the literature, attend training seminars and to learn from others in the field. Jeff’s 19 years of experience includes numerous schools and factory training sessions where he has seen the various products produced. Knowing how a carpet is manufactured, he fully understands the characteristics, capabilities and advantages of what he sells. “That’s important to our customers,” he says. “Each type of carpeting has at least three different types of fibers. That makes a huge difference in how the carpet should, or should not, be used.” It is a mistake to select a carpet based on color alone. It is vital to know, and understand, the characteristic of each type fiber in the carpet. That is just one reason why Jeff says, “Customers develop trust in us because we know our products and we take the time necessary to understand their needs.”

The store offers a variety in hardwood flooring. Depending on the setting, some customers prefer oak, others maple, or perhaps a selection of cherry or even walnut is desired. Depending on the use envisioned and the setting within the structure, Family Flooring can help with the optimum choice of hardwood for a given situation
